Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Knowledge of 49 CFR 192, ASME B31.8, API, and AGA. Industry experience in engineering, design and operation of natural gas transmission systems.
- Experience in pipeline assessment, fitness for service evaluation, risk management, and code compliance
- Experience in natural gas facility design, (meter station, regulator station, compressor station, processing plants).
- Knowledge in vendor sizing and selection programs for control valves, regulators, and relief valves, pipeline flow calculations, road crossing stress calculations, area of reinforcement calculations, and other engineering related programs preferred.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in an environment of changing priorities, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Must be able to manage time, conflicting and changing priorities, work in a team environment and assist team members as required.
- Deals frequently with a wide range of contacts including technical, operations, risk management, contractors, vendors, attorneys, and various levels of management.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Sr. Engineer level requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 6-10 years of relevant job-related experience.
- The Staff Engineer level requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 10+ years of relevant job-related experience.
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to travel approximately 25% of the time.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must reside within 45 minutes of the reporting work location.
- Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Paid relocation negotiable.
