Position Description

We're looking for a full-time, staff Human Resource Generalist to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Parsons, Kansas.

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for the tactical execution and/or administration of a range of tasks in support of the Munitions employee population. These tasks include but are not limited to: health and welfare benefits administration, on-boarding and off-boarding, leave administration and Workers' Compensation administration. The HR Generalist will collaborate with the Manager, HR in the planning and/or execution of Day & Zimmermann enterprise-wide initiatives, programs and processes that span Munitions business. The HR Generalist is responsible for the daily administrative operations of HR in full support of the Munitions leadership team and the employee population.

As the Human Resource Generalist, here's the work you'll do:
  • Responsible for successful onboarding and orientation of new employees. Conducts new hire orientation and training. Conducts exit interviews and analyzes themes to develop action plan to address attrition. Collaboratively partners with Talent Acquisition team to ensure execution of recruitment strategy. Ensures the execution of recruitment process flow and provides weekly update of recruitment activity to HR Director/Manager. Maintains up to date position descriptions and job families.
  • Advisor to leadership on payroll corrections and processes compensation authorization approvals, reviews offer letters and processes employee status changes. Principal HR staff contact for employee queries as well as external queries. Schedule new hires for physical examinations. Assist supervisors and managers in the preparation of various employee documents; change forms and HRIS tools. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and data protection requirements. Utilize HRIS systems to streamline data management processes.
  • Under direction of the HR Director/Manager, plan, execute and/or monitor tasks and actions pertaining to benefits administration to include employee communications, employee benefit enrollment/termination, data entry into SAP and SF; ensure compliance with policy and procedure; leave administration and related actions, Workers' Compensation cases, and process disability claims to include maternity/paternity, family care, STD/LTD, engage constituents to ensure accurate and timely reporting of claims and leave requests, monitor cases and pursue closure as appropriate; collaborate with principals to ensure seamless execution; in conjunction with employee and manager will coordinate receipt and submission of documents for accommodations/modifications and return to work; ensure compliance with internal policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Manage union bid process. Post bid sheets on authorized bulletin boards and in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements. Review and evaluate personnel folders of those employees who bid. Refer qualified bidders to selecting supervisors for review. Screen applicants for employment and vet job applications. May review selections for promotion/transfer for compliance with Union agreement and employee law.
  • Plan and execute low-risk investigations resulting from ethics reports or other employee/management relations complaints. Assist with additional compliance activities as required. Additional HR responsibilities or initiatives as directed by the HR Director or HR Manager. This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Understanding of OFCCP, FLSA, ADA, FMLA and state specific employment related laws/regulations OR ability to know key words in order to solicit assistance in these areas as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Solid process and project management skills.
  • Customer Focus Orientation -- Strong focus on service delivery to internal customers while supporting alignment with broader organization. Must build and develop relationships and be able to absorb and translate others' statements into objective responses and actions.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience and/or training in a Human Resources.
  • 5+ years human resources experience
  • SHRM CP or PHR certification a plus
  • Able to obtain US security clearance

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $59,600 - $89,400. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
