Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling Trainee's will gain knowledge and develop a deep understanding of Seaboard Foods' fresh pork processing specifically within the areas of planning & scheduling while also gaining knowledge in other areas of the supply chain including inventory & logistics. Trainees will receive management, departmental, and leadership training necessary to prepare them for a scheduling or other supply chain focused role within Seaboard Foods. The role of accountability will be in the corporate office in the Kansas City metro area. Trainees are expected to travel frequently to work with our plant operations team in Guymon, OK. Upon completion of the training period (time period varies by individual and open positions), scheduling trainees will be prepared for a role of accountability in transportation, scheduling, planning or inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Develop thorough understanding of shipping, traffic & transportation systems along with standard operating procedures, as well as the coordination required between sales, scheduling, shipping, and transportation.
  • Schedule and monitor shipping schedule and customer loads.
  • Understand the supply planning/scheduling processes/systems and assist both the corporate and plant scheduler/planner as needed; cover areas/plants during PTO and/or other absences.
  • Support internal or customer projects aimed at reducing unallocated inventory and improving quality, pricing, shortages, overages, shipping or any other related opportunities.
  • Analyze data to identify areas of opportunity and maximize profitability across all aspects of operations.
  • Understand how standard yields are established and work closely with FP&A, sales and product management to maintain accurate data for planning purposes.
  • Develop and/or enhance Product Availability Models using scheduling tools that support product availability ensuring plant capacities, hog weights & inventory are effectively planned
  • Coordinates the analysis of operational information by collecting and summarizing data using Microsoft Excel and other department software & tools such as Tableau.
  • Analyze data to understand the relationships of weights and yields among different product lines.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or college, an Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or two to four years demonstrated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related areas of study include supply chain operations, industrial engineering, business management, information systems or other related field or experience.
  • Process minded, numbers-oriented and logistics driven.
  • Enjoys problem solving and works well in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Good critical thinking and judgement skills to reach the best possible solution to a problem.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and create content that is easily interpreted by a diverse group of people such as employees, supervisors, and senior management.

  • Primarily an office environment with some need to work in the field.
